Job Description
  • Performs job functions consistent with the Hospital’s mission and vision statements and witnesses the BHSMC core values in the discharge of his functions.
  • Prepares examinations by checking equipment and inventorying and restocking; reviewing patient schedules; reading physician orders of specific examinations; setting-up recording equipment; entering patient information into system.
  • Reduces patients’ anxieties by explaining procedures; answering questions; providing assistance to examination table or treadmill.
  • Determines appropriate methodology and techniques to use; arranges immobilization and/or support devices for proper patient positioning; selects appropriate imaging device.
  • Uses good judgement when determining if the procedure was sufficient for proper diagnosis, of if additional imaging procedures are needed.
  • Obtains quality images by positioning and repositioning transducer; monitoring display screen; listening to signals; adjusting equipment for beam strength and focus; detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities; recording images.
  • Records examination information by printing graphics and data; calculating measurements of heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction and velocity; comparing measurements to norms.
  • Monitors the patient’s physical condition during the course of the procedure; report patient change of status or emergency situations to clinical staff, supervisor and/or cardiologist.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation, including computerized documentation.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Updates knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of BS Nursing
  • Licensed Nurse
  • At least three (3) years of working experience in medical institution
